Helping Rutherford GO customers find alternative modes during construction

The challenge
Rutherford GO Station, located in Vaughan, is a stop on the Barrie GO rail line. To accommodate an increase in service in both directions on the line, construction commenced at the station in June 2019 to expand its infrastructure and facilities. During construction, station customers will experience a number of changes to station access and parking.

How we helped
To raise awareness of impacts of the construction and to help customers with their commutes we held an outreach event at the station during the morning rush peak period. We spoke to customers about their options for accessing the station, with a focus on alternatives to driving and parking alone. Customers were provided with the Rutherford GO Station Travel Guide which includes customized information on walking, transit, cycling and carpooling options. Our booth was very popular with customers interested to know more, resulting in over 230 customer interactions.
