This prestigious recognition showcases Townline Home’s dedication to fostering a sustainable community as well as the transformative opportunity and impactful results that come with prioritizing the well-being of residents and the planet.

The Results

Townline Homes recognized a unique opportunity to redefine urban living by integrating sustainable commuting solutions into their operations. With a commitment to environmental responsibility, the decision to pursue the Best Workplaces for Commuters designation aligned seamlessly with the intent of creating spaces that enhance both resident lifestyles and the broader environment.

Townline Homes is designated as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces for Commuters as of 2023, offering exceptional employee commuter benefits to over 90 employees at their work location. Townline Homes offers several employee commuter benefits and support initiatives, including:

  • Telework program;
  • Car sharing;
  • First mile/last mile connection of sustainable trips;
  • Emergency Ride Home assistance for sustainable commuters.

Townline Homes’ commitment to sustainable commuting is just one of the companies many efforts aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. In March 2024, Townline Homes will launch its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report. This report will cover the companies’ various commitments and highlights its efforts to date.

In 2023, Townline Homes achieved an average waste diversion rate of 86% for their construction waste. Across its portfolio, this equated to diverting 1,800 tonnes of concrete, 1,250 tonnes of wood waste, 140 tonnes of metals, 70 tonnes of clear plastic and 50 tonnes of cardboard from landfills. All this waste will receive a second use through recycling for various purposes.

The commitment doesn’t end there. In the summer of 2023, Townline homes also participated in Townline’s shoreline cleanup, partnering with Rugged Coast and removing 15,274 kg of marine debris from 19 km of shoreline in Brooks Peninsula. This was the second consecutive year for this cleanup, bring the total marine debris removed to 22,254 kg, of which almost 90% was recycled or repurposed.
