Get Certified

Choose your commuting benefits, and then work with our team for implementation. Apply for certification between June and November each year.

Every January, the list of workplaces is released on the Best Workplaces website and your workplace will be recognized across North America.

BWC Explained

The Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) program provides annual certification to members who achieve a Standard of Excellence in commuter benefits. The qualifying period is between June 1 and November 30, annually. Once a member’s annual application has been approved, they are allowed to display the BWC logo, among many other benefits.

Currently, more than 500 workplaces are certified across North America. 

1999

Inception

BWC originated in 1999 with the launch of the Commuter Choice Initiative by the US federal government.

2002

Transition

In 2002, the Commuter Choice Initiative transitioned to the BWC program, which was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Transportation.

2007

New Management

The National Center for Transit Research at the Center for Urban Transportation Research, located at the University of South Florida, began managing BWC.

2023

Current

pointA launched the BWC program across Canada.
