Receive international public recognition for being commuter-friendly and socially responsible. Be included on the list of certified North American workplaces released each January.

Through the BWC online members portal, access promotional tools, webinars, and more. Employees can also access free and discounted professional development opportunities.

BWC Explained

The Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) program provides annual certification to members who achieve a Standard of Excellence in commuter benefits. The qualifying period is between June 1 and November 30, annually. Once a member’s annual application has been approved, they are allowed to display the BWC logo, among many other benefits.

Currently, more than 500 workplaces are certified across North America. 



BWC originated in 1999 with the launch of the Commuter Choice Initiative by the US federal government.



In 2002, the Commuter Choice Initiative transitioned to the BWC program, which was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Transportation.


New Management

The National Center for Transit Research at the Center for Urban Transportation Research, located at the University of South Florida, began managing BWC.



pointA launched the BWC program across Canada.
